Background and Objectives

The 4th International Symposium on Atomic Technology(ISAT-4) will be held on November 18 and 19, 2009, in Maiko, Kobe, Japan. The Symposium is part of the project "Atomic Technology" funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology(MEXT) of Japan. The project, which started in 2006, involves close collaborations among three institutes; i.e., Center for Atomic and Molecular Technologies (CAMT) at Osaka University, Tsukuba Research Center for Interdisciplinary Materials Science (TIMS) at University of Tsukuba, and Polyscale Technology Research Center (PTRC) at Tokyo University of Science. The goal of the project is to contribute to the development of atomic-scale science and technologies such as functional molecules, biomaterials, and quantum functions of atomic-scale structures. The ISAT conference is to offer a forum for the discussion on the latest progress in these fields.
