About the Workshop:
In the last few decades, laser and plasma technologies have made remarkable progress for various applications such as material analyses, thin film deposition, and nano-scale processing. Recently it has been recognized that these technologies could have also significant impact on the progress of biological/medical sciences. The current level of interaction among laser/plasma scientists and biological/medical scientists, however, may still be insufficient and more open discussion among such experts could possibly advance further development of laser/plasma technologies in the fields of biology and medicine. Therefore we have organized this Workshop in order to promote interactions of scientists interested in these fields and possibly to establish a new interdisciplinary academic field for plasma/photon science and technologies applied to biology and medicine. We hope that the Workshop will give interested attendees an opportunity to expand the horizons of their scientific endeavors. (Satoshi Hamaguchi)
